2009 Fun Fly
The event was a great success this year. I'd like to thank the following sponsors for their generosity:
- Align
- Flightpower.ca
- Advance RC
- A & J Hobbies
- Pinnacle Hobbies
- Hobby Hobby

The weather cooperated nicely and the flying was off the hook as usual. A special thank you to the Toronto RC Club for the use of their facilities for another year and to all of the volunteers that assisted throughout the weekend.
Thanks to Hank, Nick, Ayhab, Diego, and Gary for excellent demo flights throughout the weekend and also to the Teambob crew for their support. Special thanks to Brian, Mark and Dennis for all of their hard work setting up and running the event.
On Sunday Ayhab and Nick entertained us with an exciting tag team demonstration that they only practiced for about 5 minutes but it looked like they had rehearsed for quite some time.
We didn't get a chance to take a full pilot photo but here is a pic of some of the guys that came out to support us on Sunday. Special shout out to the Mississauga and Hamilton crew for making the trip. Also a special thank you to the ND Heli crew and also Roger for making the long journey year after year.
The after party BBQ was awesome and as usual. I have to give a very special thank you to my wife Dionne and mother in law Beverly for preparing a feast fit for a king. An extra special thank you also goes out to Bobby Motta for entertaining everyone with his amazing magic act. This guy is totally amazing and is the next David Copperfield.
There were hundreds of photos taken so more pics will be available soon.
Hope to see you all there again next year.

Spring Field Cleanup Day 2009
Saturday, April 25, 2009
We encourage everyone to come out on Saturday to help get the field cleaned up and get it ready for the new season. We will also be rebuilding the benches and will need as much help as possible. We ask everyone to bring drills, hammers, saws and any other building aids.
Toronto RC Heli Club - Season 2009
Thursday, April 16 2009
The 2009 season is fast approaching and we plan to “officially” open the field in a few weeks as long as we get some consistent and dry weather. We don’t want to open the gate too early and risk creating a major mud pile at the entrance so please be patient.
There are already a number of pilots using the field and we are anticipating a larger turnout of pilots this year than we had last year. This is great for the club and the hobby in general but this also brings a number of challenges for everyone in the club. Above all, please remember that safety is the number one concern for everyone and if you see anyone flying beyond their ability or putting anyone including themselves in danger, please report this to the club president or any other senior club member.
Last year, we also saw an increase in the number of people flying in the cricket field and we must remember that we do not have permission to fly ANY helicopter in that field. Please do not fly any helicopter larger than a 500 class helicopter in that field and do not fly any helicopter in that field if it is already occupied by the soccer or cricket clubs. There will be no flying of nitro powered helicopters in the cricket field at any time. Anyone discovered flying a nitro helicopter in the cricket field will be immediately excused from the club.
It is also everyone’s responsibility to keep the field clean. Please take any garbage that you bring to the field back home with you including fuel jugs, coffee cups and food waste. Please help to keep the portable toilet clean and do not stuff any garbage or paper inside the toilet. We will ensure that the toilet is cleaned on a regular basis but it is important that it is kept as clean as possible between service visits.
If you have been to the field already, you will have noticed that the tables took a major beating this year and most of them will have to be rebuilt. This is a major cost to the club and we will be asking every club member to pitch in to help get the tables rebuilt. We will be making arrangements for anyone that wishes to make a donation to the club to assist with the cost of the tables as well as anyone who can lend a helping hand to assist in the actual rebuilding of the tables.
During the season the grass at the field is cut on a regular basis and to ensure the safety of the people cutting the grass we ask that you ground your helicopter whenever the grass is being cut. There were a number of incidents reported last year to me about people flying while the grass is being cut and although the helicopter may be high above, anything can go wrong at any time.
We are planning another great fun fly this year and will be posting dates for the event in the coming weeks after all the details have been ironed out.
I’m looking forward to a great season of fun, flying and enjoying great company. You can download the 2009 membership form HERE or you can get one from A & J Hobbies or Advance RC. You can also pay your membership fee and pick up your registration card from either of these locations. Please ensure that you have valid MAAC insurance before flying.
Thank you to everyone that supports the Toronto RC Heli Club.
